The Eagles Draft Grade: A

Andy Reid sucks at drafting. Yeah, usually. This time? No.

On night one he traded the 15th pick in round one and a 4th round pick, to move up to get #12, and draft Fletcher Cox, the highly regarded defensive tackle from Mississippi State. Then they drafted Mychal Kendricks, a very good linebacker from Cal. At that point, I was already happy with the draft, but with the trade back of their second second-rounder to  get a fourth, and draft Vinny Curry, a solid D-End out of Marshall, I became pleased with this draft. Nick Foles out of Arizona makes perfect sense in the third too, and I was pleased with two days of drafting.

Andy finished the job well too. Corner Brandon Boykin from Georgia comes out of the difficult SEC, and could have easily went higher. T Dennis Kelly of Purdue, and G Brandon Washington of Miami improve this line. Iowa WR Marvin McNutt was one of the best steals of this draft in round six, and should contribute. I'm also a huge fan of the Bryce Brown pick at RB out of Kansas State. When he signed at Tennessee, he was the biggest high school prospect in the country. The weird Lane Kiffin situation really screwed him up, as he didn't get a release at first and really just never got going at K-State. I think he has potential in the pros.

I saw nothing to dislike in this draft. The first four picks are all very safe, high reward players. The day three players are all low risk, high reward guys. Andy had a pretty good weekend for once, and maybe this is a good omen for changed results.
