One Week Ago: "The Phillies suck, and this will be a long year."
Two Days Ago: "This team is fine, and they'll get it together."
Tonight: "Oh no, this team is terrible, they need to make a move right now!"
The season's a week, or eight games, old. The Phillies are 3-5. Admittedly, the offense is really awful to watch. Admittedly, I still think Dom Brown should have made this team out of camp. Admittedly, Ruben made some mistakes. All of that said, it's eight games, or a week.
The Phillies lead wire-to-wire last year, winning 102 games. It didn't help them at all in the playoffs. While it would be fun to watch them win 102 and cruise again, if they lost in the playoffs again, would it be any good? No. The Nationals and Mets are running out ahead to start the year? Think they'll finish there? Think a team with Brad Lidge closing and Jayson Werth as their "leadership" will be winning more than maybe 91-92 games? This team can flounder around .500 (as they did in 2010) as late as the trade deadline and still end up with a sixth straight division title. I would rather this team have to play hard in August and September, than cruise like last year.
Really though, just relax. It's April, no trophies are getting handed out today. If you think this team is a .400 level team, well hey, be freaked out. If not, just relax.
