It's official- the Iron Pigs and R-Phils are really good.
The Iron Pigs became the first team in the International League to win 10 games tonight. In fact, second best has 7. In the process they got to give the Buffalo Bisons (Mets) an 8-2 drilling behind Austin Hyatt. Hyatt went to 2-0 (2.20 ERA) with 5.2 IP, an unearned run, and four punch outs. Dom Brown had his third double, and team leading 8th RBI. Kevin Frandsen and Derrick Mitchell had two hits each, and Mitchell drove in four runs, and had a double. Hector Luna had an RBI and two runs scored, Podsednik got on three times and scored twice, and Andres Blanco matched him.
In Richmond, Reading's Tyler Cloyd came back to Earth- But he didn't really. He gave up ten hits in six innings- but just three runs scored against him. The result was his second win in Reading, third overall, and Reading's 9th win of the season. Michael Cisco, Jay Johnson, and B.J. Rosenberg got the last nine outs of the 5-3 win. Troy Hanzawa had a double and two hits, and Tyson Gillies had a triple amongst his two. Leandro Castro scored twice. Castro's two RBI's give him 8 as well.
The upper minors are producing a lot of wins, but more importantly a lot of quality from the better prospects. The Phillies have to be pleased.
