2013 is not going to be a small year for me. I turn 30 this year. My sister graduates high school. There's lots of great campaigns this year. There's probably a new job in my future too. So this is not a year of "standing still" ahead. It's a year of moving forward.
With that, the people we'll be watching most in 2013 list is ready, and here it goes:
SPORTS
Roy Halladay
He just had the worst year he's had since he was a youngster, he's 36, and he's not been healthy. Roy Halladay's Hall-of-Fame career could be in the decline period now, which is bad for the would-be free agent. If he's good, the Phillies are too, and if not, well then....
Ryan Howard
The "Big Piece" did come back and mash 14 homers and drive in 56 runs in under half a season, but his average dropped bad. He'll have to be back to 2011 form (at least) for this team to win. Again, if not, it's hard to go anywhere.
Nick Foles
If you follow my Twitter, you know i'm not a fan of him. If you don't, then you know now. If Foles is the future of the Eagles, which I hope not, then he needs to show improvement in 2013. I think the Eagles can do better. So do many fans. If the Eagles think that after next season, he's done here. If not, then I'm wrong, and maybe there's a future. I doubt it though.
Cole Hamels
$144 million. Six years. Cole Hamels is now a rich, secure man. He'll be a Phillie as long as he wants, and he'll be wealthy too. Now he has to pitch up to the ace, #1 level the Phillies are paying him for. It's his team now, period.
Charlie Manuel
It's contract year for the most successful manager in Phillies history, and he's not getting younger. Knowing that the Eagles dumped Reid across the street, is this Charlie's year to go? Does he want to stay beyond it?
Evan Turner
Jrue Holiday is growing into a star, and the Sixers' #2 overall pick Evan Turner is improving. If Turner can pick his game up even more, the Sixers are onto something. If not, he may be topping out as a nice, but not great player.
Politics
Joe Biden
The Vice-President just turned 70 years old, which traditionally would pretty much mean he's not going to run for President. That was then, this is now. Biden, who seems to be perfectly healthy, was a key piece in the President's re-election, and now is free to begin looking forward and assessing his chances. Biden is a decided underdog right now against Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, if she runs, but that's a big if. Right now though, he needs to start stepping out into his own light, and if the fiscal cliff is any indication, he is.
Hillary Clinton
Meet the front-runner. Sure, she's had a health issue pop up right now, but Hillary will get two years to go home and recuperate for a potential campaign in 2016. It's this simple: if she wants to be President, she will be really, really difficult to beat. She'd be nearly impossible in a primary, and very tough in the fall. With that said, how she uses her freedom in 2013 should be fascinating.
Allyson Schwartz
Quickly, she has become the most important member of the PA Democratic delegation to Congress, and now Allyson has a choice in front of her: stay in the House, run for Governor, or run for the Senate in 2016. She'll be a favorite in any of these roles, so the time is really her's right now for 2013.
Kathleen Kane
Pennsylvania's new Attorney General walks in as the old one, and current Governor, files a lawsuit over the case that aided her campaign so much- the Sandusky case. With the backing of the Clintons, so many people have high hopes for Kane.
Joe Sestak
Admiral. Congressman. 2% from Senator. Governor? Senator? No one's quite sure what former Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Delaware County) is up to, but he's not going away yet. Could he be eying a shot at Governor Corbett in 2014? It seems like everyone is, but he'd be high in the pack.
Entertainment
The Rolling Stones
Welcome to year 51 of the greatest rock band of all-time. What does a band this big do in year 51? No one knows, since it never happened before. Let's hope it's a tour...
Lindsay Lohan
Jail, rehab, worse, or making millions? That seems to be the choice list for my favorite Hollywood showstopper. No one really knows what she'll do this year, least of which herself, so it's not worth guessing. Just hope for the best, and no one to get hurt along the way. Oh, and no more Romney endorsements....
Eminem
So what if he's possibly the best rapper ever, what's he done lately? In the last year or two, not as much after "Love the Way You Lie" topped the charts for him. Does he even have another comeback in mind? Is he just hanging out now? No one really knows, especially not me. I hope he's back with more music by year's end.
Taylor Swift
Sheeeee, is never, ever, ever.... putting new music together... So now that she's dating some guy named "Harry Styles" from One Direction (enjoy the five minutes of fame bro), how long 'til this diss on a bad ex-boyfriend is written. Better yet, can she keep writing the same damn songs over and over and stay a star? We'll see.
Kimye
Yes, I just put these two on, and why not, I'm a huge fan. They're going to be parents, which is both awesome and kind of scares the hell out of me. That poor child. He wears skirts on stage, and as he put it, she "got famous off of a home movie." Yes folks, welcome to 2013, the best new year of your life.

Love your list.
One guy I just can't wrap my arms around is Evan Turner. I'm a big Sixers fan and could never put my finger on why Collins clipped his minutes so much last year. Then I went to a game earlier this year and had courtside seats.
Turner was so unengaged and behaved so immaturely while on the bench, I could see why he's not one of Collins' favorites.
Thank you.
Turner worries me if no other reason than opportunity cost. The Sixers could have taken a different player at that pick, and if he's not progressing, maybe they would be.
The flip side of that is Collins though. He wasn't a big fan of Vucevic, and dealth him in the Bynum deal. That's a big "ouch" right now.
